8 super 8 hotels in Australia have been told by a leading hotel company they are not allowed to film or use live music.
The rules were issued by Australian Hotels Association in the wake of the release of a new documentary on Australian sex tourism and the potential for underage tourists to get in the wrong way.
It comes after police raided the home of the owner of a super 8 motel in Melbourne’s west and confiscated an array of devices including cell phones and microphones.
A spokeswoman for Melbourne Hotels Group said the company would be seeking an order to block the footage from being used in any capacity.
“We would like to clarify that our hotels have no control over the behaviour of guests and that we will be seeking judicial advice to determine if we can legally release this material,” the spokeswoman said.
Melbourne Hotels group has been contacted for comment.
