New York City to shut down after massive snowstorm

New York’s mayor has ordered the city to shut its public parks and shut down all of its public transportation until Monday.

Gov.

Andrew Cuomo has said the state’s snowstorm was the largest in the state in nearly 40 years.

The snowstorm dumped 10 inches (26 centimeters) of snow in New York and parts of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Connecticut.

Cuomo says the city of Manhattan and the borough of Queens will be closed on Monday.

The city of New York, which has some of the highest rents in the country, is preparing to close at least 20 parks and open only some of them to the public, according to The Associated Press.

The city of Rochester is also considering closing its parks, but officials said they are still discussing the options with the state.
